Remember that song that went Haters going Hate?
I am not sure that was the actual name of the song, but the message of the phrase rings true. There will always be Haters and they will always spill Hate. Even I have to deal with it.
Recently, I shared a video on LinkedIn about how I went on a 5 day water fast. I was extremely proud of myself because that was the longest I had ever gone on a fast. And I felt amazing, motivated, and healed.
The video itself is my highest viewed video to date on LinkedIn!
However, it is also the post that I have received the most negative comments. One person even said what I did sounded as bad as getting a colonoscopy. Not sure how true that is?
To my surprise, I was actually not that upset. I knew that everyone agrees with fasting or even doing keto, detox, or deep healing. But I know it is what I need to do for my body and my health so I am sticking with it.
Damn the Haters I say! I ignore them.
I am going to share with you my 5 reason why I don’t let the haters win and I hope it inspires you to do the same.
- Haters don’t pay my bills.
- Haters are not my friends.
- Haters don’t have my best interest at heart.
- Haters are never met me for the most part.
- Haters can’t tell me what to do.
Number 1: Haters don’t pay your bills
I learned very early on in my business career that if someone is not paying you or helping you pay your obligations, then their opinion is meaningless. Taking time to focus these people does not help you learn or grow. It puts you in a bad place where you start to question what you are doing. Don’t let that happen! Shut them out as soon as possible! Focus on your tribe! Those are the people that truly support you!
Number 2: Haters are not your friends
The only thing about social media is you are able to spread your message to many people. You can start a following. You can have people waiting for each and every post you make. But these “followers” are not “friends.” Yes, some of them may turn into friends, which is great! The fact that someone follows you does not automatically make them a friend. Same with Haters. These people commented on your posts in a negative way. But you have no relationship with them and therefore you owe them nothing in return for their opinion.
Number 3: Haters don’t have your best interest at heart.
Just cause someone posts on your social media site, does not mean they care about you. They cared about putting themselves or their opinions out there on the internet. Whatever nasty or mean thing they said has nothing to do with you. As they say, “It’s not you, it’s me!” This is so true when it comes to Haters! You are more than welcome to respond to their comments. Just remember don’t take it personally and it has nothing to do with you.
Number 4: Haters have never met you for the most part.
Unless, it is a friend or a colleague, most of the time, Haters don’t really know you. Yes, maybe they are a follower of yours. But as I stated earlier, these people are not your friends. When you post about something amazing you did or an issue that is really important to you, your tribe will appreciate and support you. Your haters will come out and attack you, forcing to change to meet their needs. Don’t let them. Especially if it is someone who have never seen face-to-face. They don’t know the real you and you don’t need to spend extra time on them.
Number 5: Haters can’t tell you what to do.
This one rings true to my most recent post. Many of the negative comments and messages I received surrounded around how I shouldn’t be fasting for that long. Or how I am ruining the planet by eating so much meat. Or you need to just reduce your calories. All of these are just opinions. Maybe well-intention opinions, but still just opinions. If you are convinced what you are doing is right then keep doing it. For the record, my own family thinks I am crazy for doing this food detox and deep healing thing. But I still keep going anyway!
So the next time you put out an amazing piece of content of social media and the Haters come out remember this:
Focus on your tribe and let the haters die!
